A PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO TRT

Testosterone Therapy Starts With a Proper Evaluation

Low testosterone isn’t diagnosed by symptoms alone. Your health history, symptoms, medications, physical health, and appropriate laboratory testing all play a role in determining whether testosterone replacement therapy may be appropriate.

At LexMed Wellness, we take a personalized approach to evaluation and treatment, with ongoing monitoring to help ensure your care remains appropriate as your needs change.

TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY

When Testosterone Replacement Therapy May Be Appropriate

Testosterone replacement therapy may be considered for men with symptoms of testosterone deficiency and consistently low testosterone levels confirmed through appropriate testing. Treatment decisions are individualized and take your overall health, medical history, symptoms, laboratory results, and goals into account.

The goal of treatment is to address confirmed testosterone deficiency while providing appropriate medical monitoring throughout your care.

HOW IT WORKS

Your TRT Journey Starts With a Comprehensive Evaluation

Getting started with testosterone therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. We begin by understanding your symptoms, health history, and goals, then use appropriate laboratory testing and clinical evaluation to determine whether TRT may be right for you.

Initial Consultation

Discuss your symptoms, health history, medications, lifestyle, and goals with your provider.

Laboratory Evaluation

Appropriate blood testing helps evaluate testosterone levels and other factors relevant to your treatment.

Personalized Treatment Plan

If TRT is appropriate, your provider will develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs and medical circumstances.

Ongoing Monitoring

Follow-up care allows your provider to monitor your response to treatment, review appropriate laboratory testing, and make adjustments when needed.

Who It Is For

Who TRT Care at LexMed Wellness Is For

Our men’s health visits are for adult men in Lexington and nearby communities (Nicholasville, Georgetown, Winchester, Richmond, Versailles) who:

  • Have noticed ongoing symptoms and want a medical answer rather than guessing
  • Had a low testosterone result elsewhere and want a second evaluation or ongoing management
  • Are already on testosterone and are looking for a local provider for monitoring
  • Want care that also looks at sleep, weight, mood, and other health factors that can overlap with low T symptoms

TRT is not right for everyone. Men who are trying to conceive, or who have certain heart, blood, or prostate conditions, need a careful conversation first, and in some cases another approach may be safer.

Your First Visit

Your First Visit: What to Expect

Before your visit: Bring a list of current medications and supplements, and any recent lab results. If you have prior testosterone results, bring those too.

Consultation: You will meet one-on-one with your provider to talk through symptoms, timeline, sleep, and health history.

Labs: Testosterone is typically checked with a morning blood draw, often on more than one day. Your provider may also check related labs such as a blood count, PSA when appropriate, and other hormones to look for underlying causes.

Your plan: If treatment is appropriate, your provider will review options, possible risks, and what monitoring is required. If it is not, we will talk through other next steps.

Follow-up and monitoring: Ongoing visits include periodic labs to review testosterone levels, blood counts, and other safety markers, with adjustments made as needed.

TRT QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions About TRT

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a medical treatment for men with symptoms consistent with testosterone deficiency and appropriately confirmed low testosterone levels. Treatment is individualized based on your symptoms, health history, laboratory results, and medical needs.

Symptoms may include low energy or fatigue, reduced sex drive, changes in body composition, difficulty maintaining muscle mass, mood changes, and difficulty concentrating. These symptoms can have other causes, which is why proper medical evaluation is important.

Diagnosis involves evaluating your symptoms and medical history along with appropriate testosterone testing. Because testosterone levels can vary, your provider may recommend additional testing to help confirm whether testosterone deficiency is present and whether treatment is appropriate.

Your provider will discuss your symptoms, health history, medications, lifestyle, previous treatments, and goals. Appropriate laboratory testing may be ordered or reviewed, and you'll have an opportunity to discuss whether TRT may be appropriate for you.

Testosterone therapy can have potential risks and side effects and isn't appropriate for everyone. Your provider will review the potential benefits, risks, contraindications, and monitoring requirements before treatment is started.

The best way to determine whether TRT may be appropriate is through a medical evaluation. Your provider will consider your symptoms, health history, laboratory results, and individual goals before recommending treatment.
